Chapter 8 Key Words

Nutrient-Dense:foods rich in vitamins and minerals and contain relatively few calories
Body Composition: describes the proportion of body fat to lean mass in a persons body
Overweight: a high amount of body fat in relation to lean body mass

Obesity: an excessive amount of body fat

Malnutrition: lack of nutrients within a persons body

Centering: focusing on one part of a situation

Reversibility: actions being reversed

Concrete Operational Stage: understanding the concepts of today, tomorrow, and yesterday

Learning Diversity:difference in learning depending on abilities or experiences

Learning Styles:methods of taking in and processing information

Executive Strategies: skills used to solve problems

Conventional Morality: moral decisions based on perceiving good or bad

Industry Versus Inferiority:becoming independent and learning more skills

Bullying: act of intimidating other people

Stress: a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting adverse or very demanding circumstances

Hyperopia: a defect of the eye that causes inability to see near objects clearly

Myopia:lack of imagination, foresight, or intellectual insight

Dyslexia:disorders that involve difficulty in learning to read, bit do jot affect general intelligence

Mainstreaming: place a student with special needs into a mainstream class or school
